For WhatsApp Business app users
Keep your WhatsApp Business app. Add a team inbox on the same number.
No new number, and no giving up the app on your phone. Connect the number you already use, and every chat shows up in both places: on your phone, and in Zanoo for your team.
An official Meta feature, included in every plan. Meta calls it “coexistence”.
One number, two places
Today your WhatsApp lives on one phone. After you connect, the same chats also appear in Zanoo, and they stay in step:
- A customer messages you. It shows on your phone and in Zanoo.
- You reply from your phone. Your team sees the reply in Zanoo.
- Someone on your team replies from Zanoo. You see it on your phone.
Your customers notice nothing. Same number, same business name, same profile picture.
What you can do today, and with Zanoo added
Nothing on the left goes away. Zanoo adds the column on the right.
What changes on your phone
Meta switches a few things off in the app once a number is connected. Better to know before you start:
- Broadcast lists stop. You can’t make new ones, and old ones become read-only. Send campaigns from Zanoo instead.
- Disappearing messages, view once and live location turn off in one-to-one chats.
- Linked devices are logged out once. Link WhatsApp Web and your other devices again afterwards, up to 4. WhatsApp for Windows and Wear OS watches don’t work on a connected number.
- Group chats stay on your phone only. They keep working, but they don’t appear in Zanoo.
- Calls, your catalogue, labels, quick replies and status keep working in the app. Zanoo just doesn’t see them.
- Keep using the app. If the app on your phone goes unused for about 14 days, Meta disconnects the number from Zanoo. Opening it every few days is enough.
How to connect, in six steps
Do this at a computer, with the phone that has your WhatsApp Business app next to you. The person connecting needs admin access to your business’s Facebook account.
- Update the WhatsApp Business app on your phone to version 2.24.17 or later.
- Sign up for Zanoo and open Channel settings → Connect WhatsApp. Meta’s sign-up window opens.
- Log in with Facebook, pick your business portfolio, and choose the option to connect your existing WhatsApp Business app.
- Enter your number. WhatsApp sends a message to the app on your phone. Open it and scan the QR code shown on your computer.
- Choose whether to copy your chats. Say yes to bring the last 6 months of chats and your contacts into Zanoo. Keep the app open on your phone until it finishes, which can take a few minutes.
- You’re live. Invite your team, and add a card to your Meta account if you plan to send campaigns.
Stuck on a step? Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll walk you through it.
What it costs
- Messages you send from the app on your phone stay free, the same as today.
- Messages sent from Zanoo follow Meta’s normal WhatsApp pricing. Replies within 24 hours of the customer’s last message are free for the first 1,000 a month, then ₹0.115 each; template messages, like campaigns, are charged by Meta directly at its published rates.
- Connecting costs nothing: it is part of every Zanoo plan. No setup fee.
One thing to know: for chats that started before you connected, Zanoo can only send an approved template until the customer writes again. Just answer those from your phone.
Is it right for you?
Keep the app and add Zanoo if
- You like answering from the WhatsApp Business app and want to keep doing it
- Your team needs to share the number without sharing a phone
- You want campaigns, chatbots or Instagram in the same place
Move the number fully to Zanoo if
- Nobody needs the phone app any more
- You send very large campaigns in a hurry. A shared number sends up to 20 messages a second (about 72,000 an hour)
Not sure? Start with the app connected. You can change your mind later.
Questions
Will my customers notice anything?
No. They message the same number and see the same business name and profile. Whether you answer from your phone or from Zanoo, the reply comes from that number.
Will I lose my chats or contacts?
No. Everything stays in the app on your phone. When you connect, you can also copy the last 6 months of chats and your contacts into Zanoo — or say no and start Zanoo empty.
Is this allowed by WhatsApp?
Yes. It is an official Meta feature, called coexistence in Meta’s documentation. You switch it on in Meta’s own sign-up window, and you can switch it off from the app at any time.
Can I still use WhatsApp Web and other linked devices?
Yes, up to 4 of them. They are logged out once when you connect, so link them again afterwards. WhatsApp for Windows and Wear OS watches are not supported by Meta on a connected number.
Do group chats show up in Zanoo?
No. Groups keep working in the app on your phone, but Meta does not share them with Zanoo. Only one-to-one chats appear in both places.
What happens if I don’t open the app for a while?
Meta disconnects the number from Zanoo if the app on your phone goes unused for about 14 days. Keep the app installed and open it at least once a week or two. You can reconnect if it does happen.
Does it cost extra?
No. It is included in every Zanoo plan, the free one too. Messages you send from the app stay free. Messages sent from Zanoo follow Meta’s normal rates, billed by Meta directly.
Can I stop using Zanoo later?
Yes. In the WhatsApp Business app, go to Settings → Account → Business Platform → Disconnect account. The app carries on as it did before you connected.
