Instagram comment-to-DM
Send an automatic DM to anyone who comments a keyword on your post or reel — with an optional public reply, and guards against spam.
Someone comments “price” on your reel; a few seconds later they get a DM with the details. That’s comment-to-DM. It’s the easiest way to start Instagram conversations, since Instagram doesn’t allow bulk messages.
Before you start: connect Instagram.
1. Create a rule
Open Automation → Comment to DM in Zanoo and create a new rule. Choose where it applies:
- One post or reel — great for a launch or an offer.
- All posts — a catch-all for common questions.
2. Pick your keywords
Add the words that should trigger the DM, like price, link or info.
- Add exclude keywords for comments you want to skip — for example
refundorcomplaint, which deserve a human reply.
3. Write the DM
This is the private reply the commenter receives. Keep it short and useful.
- Include the link, price or next step they asked for.
- End with a question so they reply — that keeps the conversation open.
4. Add a public reply (optional)
Zanoo can also reply under the comment, like “Sent you a DM!”.
- Add a few variants of the public reply so it doesn’t look copied.
5. Set the safety limits
Two guards keep the rule from spamming anyone:
- Daily cap — the most DMs the rule sends in a day.
- Once per comment — each comment triggers at most one DM.
6. Turn it on and test
Switch the rule on, then comment a keyword from another account. Check that the DM arrives and the conversation shows up in your inbox.
Good to know
- The 24-hour rule still applies. Once the person replies, you can keep chatting for 24 hours after their latest message.
- Comment moderation lives alongside: hide, delete or reply to comments from one queue.
- Story replies arrive in your inbox as DMs. Comment-to-DM works on posts and reels, not stories.
- No per-message fee. Meta doesn’t charge for Instagram DMs.
